What Was the Defining Moment of Your Blogging in 2007?
Visited 156 Times Published by Rico January 2nd, 2008 in Blogging and What.I’m pretty sure that many of you have gained something through blogging. Perhaps it’s a side effect of being able to easily and quickly publicize your perspectives, insights, and works. I’ve said time and time again that maintaining Fool for Five has proven my proficiency as a writer, which in turn has led to long- and short-term employment opportunities.
But perhaps the most defining moment of my blogging career, for the year 2007, was when Fool for Five helped bridge the gap between me and a long-lost branch descended from my great-grandfather. It proved that the Internet does facilitate the search of information and communcation, even if everything doesn’t work as planned. Search engines may return misleading results, and virtually constant connectivity is apparently still a pipe dream, but the system still allows those lucky breaks to happen.
So, as I eagerly await for my dad’s long-lost half-uncle to visit the Philippines next week, I’m a bit curious, dear readers: What was your defining moment of your 2007 blogging?

Mine was controversies revolving in two entries of mine. They made me even more determined to be a better and wiser blogger.
Good to hear that the Internet helped you trace long-lost relatives. I hope someday that can happen to me too. I can only trace my family tree up to my grandparents. I’ve always wanted to know the roots of my family name. Anyway, back to your question. I think the defining moment for me was when I was able to let go of my negative feelings about Malu Fernandez’s article, From Greece to Boracay. It happened right after I finished writing my reactions about it. Para akong nabunutan ng tinik, ika nga. From then on, I realized that writing for myself (and for others) is very therapeutic, especially for an OFW like me who longs to be back in the arms of my loving Motherland.
