How Can You Really Avoid AdSense Check Fraud?
Visited 936 Times Published by Rico September 28th, 2007 in How, Internet and Rico's Ramblings.Google now lets you receive AdSense payments through Western Union. Yay, no more potential for check fraud!
It’s been a while since I wrote about avoiding AdSense check fraud, when I covered Google’s secure delivery option. But spending $24 to receive an AdSense check direct via DHL is simply too much for publishers who are just starting out. What if you’re “only” earning $30 a month?
Yes, you can just ask Google to hold your payments until you earn enough money to make the $24 seem insignificant. But, this means you’ll have to wait a bit until you can enjoy the fruits of your new media labor.
By receiving money through Western Union, you can get your monthly AdSense earnings securely, no matter how small. All it requires is a trip to your local remittance center and a government-issued ID to prove your identity.
Of course, this comes with its own set of security risks: you pick up $10,000 (the maximum you can received through WU) and get mugged on your way to the bank! And what if someone successfully pretends they’re you, claiming the money using your name? Granted, this is hard than fraudulently cashing a check, but it’s still possible.
There is one way to really cut down on the potential of fraud, and that’s to receive money via wire transfers. Imagine, with your AdSense payments routed directly to your bank account (at nominal cost by the way), it’s just a simple matter of checking our account balance to see if you’ve received your AdSense earnings—which you can do online!
Google of course let’s you do this through PayPal; another reason why that service should be fully available in the Philippines., but only in certain countries; that convenience should be available here in the Philippines!

Chief, there is no PayPal option for AdSense. Perhaps you are thinking about Electronic Fund Transfers.
Google has Google CheckOut, a competitor to eBay’s Paypal.
Yep, sorry ’bout that. The point is that I’d like Google to let us receive AdSense payments via wire transfers direct to our local bank accounts, so that the chance for fraud is virtually eliminated.
Actually, I also read somewhere that thru EFT, someone can hack your Adsense login and use their own bank accounts. After which they’d wipe and close the bank account.
Yep, there will always be ways to beat the system. But, at least for me, it’s harder to pull that off.
Any suggestions on making electronic transactions more secure?
