How Do You Get Dugg?

Today, Benjamin Yoskovitz made the front page of Digg. How’d he do it?

  1. He wrote a genuinely interesting post. Which was why I dugg it.
  2. He submitted the article to Digg. So I didn’t have to.
  3. He then e-mailed me and some friends about his submission. That’s how I found out about it in the first place.

And apparently, other users saw what I saw.

Yes, Benjamin made it easy to Digg what he wrote. That helped a bit. But people only paid attention to Benjamin’s post because it was good and relevant. Good because it’s interestingly informative. Relevant because I suspect most Digg users are techies who secretly dream of creating their own startups. In other words, the article on entrepreneurship resonated. Take a look at some of the comments and you’ll see what I mean.

Sounds familiar? Well, I wouldn’t be surprised if Benjamin took a page or two from Brian Clark.

I got Dugg last month and I have never seen that amount of traffic ever in my life. I’m still getting some hits from there.

Semaj: Guess that’s an advantage of being hosted on Blogger or Wordpress.com. No need to worry about the digg effect.
