How Do You Use YM Smileys as Your Avatar?

Just send an IM with a smiley in it (make sure to warn your contact, so that they won’t get the wrong impression):
Save a screenshot (by pressing Prnt Scrn on a PC, or Command+Control+Shift+3 on a Mac), paste it on your favorite image editing software (MS Paint or GIMP will do), and crop everything around the smiley:
Save the emoticon as a file and upload it as an avatar:
