What Movies Should You Look Out For in 2008?
Visited 1095 Times Published by Rico June 30th, 2007 in Movies, Rumors and What. We’re just halfway through 2007. Yet I’m already excited about two new movies coming out next year. Both are from Paramount Pictures.
First up, we’ve got the yet untitled Star Trek XI, which began production two months ago. J.J. Abrams, of Lost and Alias fame, will be directing. And since I consider The Incredibles’ soundtrack one of my all-time favorites, I’m glad Michael Giacchino will score the new movie.
Less clear is what the new film will be about. While many sources say this will be a prequel movie, set during the academy days of James T. Kirk and co., the only confirmed detail (from Abrams) is that the legendary captain will make an appearance.
Next, we have the also unnamed Indiana Jones 4. Filming began just last week. Turns out the deal between George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, and Paramount Pictures was for five Indiana Jones films. Perhaps we’ll see one more after this? Aside from the main cast, and that the movie will be set during the 1950s, no other details are confirmed. Although the scheduled worldwide premiere is May 2, 2008, and the trailer will make its debut during this Thanksgiving season in the US (November 2007).
Check out the picture above (click on the thumbnail to see a full-size version). Looks like the 64-year-old Harrison Ford is aging quite gracefully.
Obviously, I’m a geek. That’s why these two films are so interesting for me. But what about you, dear readers? What planned 2008 movie makes you quake with anticipation?
And yes, even romantic comedies are accepted. ![]()

hey rico, great to see you last night.
i guess you missed the real one to watch out in 2008, the dark knight. still chris nolan on the helm, and great maggie gyllenhaal taking over the role of lousy katie holmes.
It was great to see you again too. And oh yes, I already considered that movie a given, that’s why I didn’t mention it anymore.
I guess people always vent their anger towards Katie Holmes regarding Batman Begins because she was the sore thumb sticking out in such a great movie.
I heard Shia is a cast in the Indiana Jones 4.
