Why Should You Visit Inane Rambling?
Visited 3232 Times Published by Rico December 7th, 2007 in Rico's Ramblings and Tidbits.Writers who are more interested in showing off a wide vocabulary are painfully easy to detect. Their message becomes obscured by a reliance on polysyllabic words, despite the availability of more accessible prose that can do the job better.
Yet we must understand that writing involves striking a balance between communication and creativity. A writer of the opposite extreme, someone who uses the most uncomplicated of words to convey meaning, will have a harder time distinguishing themselves, as their boring text hardly attracts any attention. In other words, they are no better than the highfaluting aspirants.
It is a rare writer who maximizes their skill through the use of uncommon words, yet manages to present an easily digestible composition. It is an exceptional writer who, despite “merely” sharing their personal perspectives, opinions, and reflections, creates value for the reader by making the comprehensive experience worthwhile.
Such a writer is the driving force behind Inane Rambling. It could be argued that none of this blog’s posts are useful for the casual reader, given the non-educational focus as mentioned above. Yet such a worth-driven outlook fails to appreciate the fact that the posts show budding writers how to be eloquent while avoiding obscurity. At the very least, Inane Rambling proves that complicated words do have their place in writing for the lowest common denominator.
