What do Batman and Spock Have in Common?

Once he was cast as The Dark Knight, Batman took on a relentlessly cold persona, unemotionally dispatching foes, and ending battles before they begin through intimidation.
Spock always approached situations logically and calmly, as dictated by the tenets of his alien race, the Vulcans. Whenever his ship, the Enterprise, encountered enemies that preyed on the vulnerabilities of emotion, he was always the X-factor that saved the day.
Both act in such an unemotional manner, a similarity between the two that makes them so intriguing.
Batman has to constantly deal with his turmoiled past, always reliving that fateful day he witnessed his parents’ murder at the hands of a mugger’s gun. So he pushed himself to achieve peak of human physical and mental capability. Yet he’s an emotionally troubled and paranoid man who never lets anyone into his life, even the various sidekicks he’s had over the years.
Spock, like most Vulcans, is only unemotional and logical because he’s spent years suppressing his emotions. Some of the most interesting stories showcase Spock’s struggles with the emotional nature of his human half (from his mom).
Despite their apparently unemotional demeanor, both Batman and Spock are in the end emotional creatures. They usually never openly display their emotions to other people, for various reasons, but that doesn’t mean they experience no emotions at all.
It’s just like a poker player who simply refuses to give away his hand, because he doesn’t want the other players on the table to know what he has. He’s learned that in the game, the others only want to know what he’s hiding and use that to their advantage.

Ako alam ko…both have pointed ears!
That too!
Except for the most unconventional Batman, Adam West. Holey moley Batman! What has pointed ears and experiences strong emotion when exposed to a certain pod plant or is experiencing the Pon Farr? Spock just Spock

Poker players have signs and quirks that give them away. So be careful.
The camp wasn’t really Batman’s thing, but it’s always great to watch that hilariously spaced out series.
And thanks for the great advice.
Don’t forget Data, Spock’s equivalent in ST TNG. He was quite the opposite though, despite his inability to feel. While Batman and the half-Vulcan half-human suppress their emotions, Data’s quest is to have emotions.
Yes, when someone like Data lacks something, he totally wants to have it. While we take what we already possess for granted.
I guess I can understand if a person would go that route, however, I simply hope it won’t cross the line of hypocrisy and run the risk of becoming two-faced.
Don’t worry, I’m sure it won’t. I promise you!
