Steve Jobs confirmed the rumors in the 2005 Worldwide Developers Conference: Apple was bidding goodbye to the PowerPC, the processor that powered its computers for many years, and welcoming Intel into the fold.
Reaction ranged from excitement to worry. Some eagerly anticipated the switch to a more powerful processor. But others didn’t like the idea of basing future Macs on the platform famous for powering Apple’s competitors…
