Why am I Currently Playing People are People Over and Over Again?

People are People Album ArtHere are some lyrics from Depeche Mode’s classic:

People are people
So why should it be?
You and I should
get along so awfully

I can’t understand
what makes a man
hate another man
help me understand

The meaning is as obvious as someone whacking your head with a sledgehammer. But in spite of, or maybe because of it, this lack of subtlety appeals to me in some weird way (aside from the synth-driven 80s sound of course). We all need periodic doses of the apparent to get us back on track.

Do you know a song that’s really really obvious, but still carries a good message nonetheless?

I would opt for The Beatles’ song “All You Need is Love”. :) Or Nena’s 99 Luftballons :)

    Or how ’bout Imagine? :D

Another obvious song with a good message is People by Burt Bachrach. The first line goes..”People, people who need people, are the luckiest people in the world”

    What about Pacquiao’s song? Hehehehe.

Tina: Great message from a classic!

WiLL: You can’t get any more obvious than “This Fight is For You!”
