Why Won’t I Buy the iPhone?
Visited 943 Times Published by Rico May 27th, 2007 in Tech, Why and Writing.Yes, I drooled over Apple’s entry into the mobile market, thanks to Steve Jobs’ usual marketing magic. But after some consideration, I decided the quad-band smartphone isn’t for me. Here’s why:
- Nothing’s new. The vaunted multi-touch interface is something I don’t need. Because…
- It’s 1.0. Even Apple’s Industrial Design team doesn’t get everything right the first try. Just ask Mr. MacBook.
- Real keys are better than virtual ones. If you need to enter text quickly, touch-sensitive buttons aren’t recommended.
- A scratch-magnet. The back is made of anodized aluminum. And a screen protector’s got the front covered, but what about the beautiful shiny metal framing the display?
- Big screen = big vulnerability. I like keeping my gadgets in my pockets, along with keys, coins, and my assasin’s knife. The iPhone’s big display means there’s a big chance it will suffer big damage.
I actually have five more reasons why I won’t buy the iPhone when it first comes out. To find out what they are, go and grab the May-June 2007 issue of Mobile Philippines from your local newsstand (click the thumbnail on the left for a bigger version). mr macbook says you’re right…to a certain degree!
Will you be getting one? Despite the stuff I’ve listed above, I’m sure an iPhone will look good with your MacBook.
